Watching rom coms or action TV shows is one thing, but the type where you can see flesh oozing out of a crushed brain or blood being splattered is quite exquisite. People nowadays truly enjoy this genre when they see anything gruesome and awful. You’ll be engrossed in the story for a while until the protagonist’s father’s head falls. LOL.
I enjoy this gore genre, in particular, however, there are some television shows where even the most ardent gore fan might be disgusted or might even embrace it, who know. To all those gore-loving people out there, here are some of the most horrendous and violent TV shows you’re gonna love. And to all the non-gore-loving people, you might just as well give it a try and thank us later. HEHE 🙂 And they are all arranged according to their availability on different OTT platforms.
12 Most Horrendous And Violent TV Shows
Horrendous And Violent TV Shows on Disney Plus
Game of Thrones (2011)
IMDb – 9.2
Genre – Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Serial drama, Tragedy
Created by – David Benioff, D. B. Weiss
About – Who wouldn’t include Game of Thrones on a list of the most horrifying and violent television shows? nobody!! There isn’t a single person who wouldn’t consider this to be one of the most classics. Claim the throne, the realm of dragons, horrific killings, some strange family drama where individuals simply kill one other, and so on are all part of the plot.
Marvel’s Daredevil (2015)
IMDb – 8.6
Genre – Action, Crime, Drama
Created by – Drew Goddard
About – A toxic spill from a car accident blinded Matt Murdock as a child. He becomes a lawyer who represents the underdogs. He develops his other senses in stealth and becomes Hell’s Kitchen’s watchful Daredevil.
American Horror Story (2011)
IMDb – 8
Genre – Drama, Horror, Sci-fi
Created by – Brad Falchuk, Ryan Murphy
About – The media’s commodification of serial killers is the most evident concern. Serial killers and mass murderers sell, whether it’s by making a movie or putting their face on a magazine cover, and there’s something inherently wrong with that. Why do we give serial killers cool nicknames and then endlessly engage with them in every way possible, giving them exactly what so many of them want – infamy? And, of course, AHS wouldn’t be complete without a discussion on gender issues.
Horrendous And Violent TV Shows on Prime Video
Oz (1997)
IMDb – 8.7
Genre – Crime, Drama, Thriller
Created by – Tom Fontana
About – OZ depicts both the crass and the profound parts of jail life that we, as law-abiding people, prefer not to consider. Don’t we have the “authorities” to deal with that? A wing called Emerald City is developed with Oswald State Penitentiary in an innovation on the prison city. Prisoners on this wing are given more responsibilities and better living conditions. The inmates, on the other hand, are not much different, and the prison is ruled by violence and crime. No one is immune to corruption, and even minor actions can lead to murder.
Dexter (2006)
IMDb – 8.7
Genre – Crime, Drama, Mystery
Created by – James Manos Jr.
About – Dexter is a fascinating, one-of-a-kind television series that will have you on the edge of your seat for the rest of the season. Michael C. Hall plays Dexter to perfection, and the rest of the supporting cast is as impressive! Dexter Morgan works for the Miami Police Department as a blood-spatter analyst. He does a decent job and gets along with his coworkers. They have no idea that he also fights crime in his leisure time, killing criminals who have eluded justice.
Sons of Anarchy (2008)
IMDb – 8.6
Genre – Crime, Drama, Thriller
Created by – Kurt Sutter
About – The show Sons of Anarchy is about a biker gang in the small town of Charming. The bikers spend their time going about their daily lives, which are often linked with various criminal activities, which frequently result in terrible circumstances, warranting a warning for the faint of heart. They deal with little issues such as competing gangs at initially, but every time they appear to handle one crisis, three more appear in its place, and the cycle continues season after season.
Hannibal (2013)
IMDb – 8.5
Genre – Crime, Drama, Horror
Created by – Bryan Fuller
About – Knowing the plot from the movies (or the novels) doesn’t ruin the experience; the writers skilfully manage your expectations and take enough variations so you never know what will happen. And Mads Mikkelsen is fantastic as Hannibal. Hannibal embodies natural perfection; his expression is cold and lifeless, but he exudes uncanny aberrant confidence.
Spartacus (2010)
IMDb – 8.5
Genre – Action, Adventure, Biography
Created by – Steven S. DeKnight
About – The series grows on itself as it progresses, raising the stakes, throwing in some true twists and surprises that you won’t see coming, and culminating in the best finale of any series I’ve ever seen; to say it’s dramatic is an understatement. The production values appear to be better and more stunning; there are larger-scale conflicts with impressive effects. The action is more numerous and brutal than ever before, with some absolutely breathtaking visuals.
Horrendous And Violent TV Shows on Netflix
Peaky Blinders (2013)
IMDb – 8.8
Genre – Crime, Drama
Created by – Steven Knight
About – Following WWI, the Shelby family establishes a reputation as bookmakers, racketeers, and gangsters. Although Arthur, the oldest brother, is nominally the family’s leader, Tommy, the second oldest, is the one with the true intellect, ambition, and drive in the organization. He’ll build a business empire that will extend well beyond Birmingham. With the help of his family and his group, the Peaky Blinders, he does this.
Mindhunter (2017)
IMDb – 8.6
Genre – Crime, Drama, Mystery
Created by – Joe Penhall
About – ‘Mindhunter‘ isn’t focused on shoplifters or what goes on inside the mind of someone who commits insurance fraud, but rather on criminals who are a little more serious (like, say, murderers who like to engage in sexual activities with their victims’ severed heads – stuff like that). It’s also not a documentary; while the characters are based on real individuals and the show portrays serial killers realistically, it’s a fictionalized narrative of events created for our entertainment.
The Walking Dead (2010)
IMDb – 8.2
Genre – Drama, Horror, Thriller
Created by – Frank Darabont
About – The Walking Dead is a fantastic show, however, it, like every other show, has its limitations. Especially in the later seasons, such as seasons seven and eight. However, I enjoy it because of how merciless and gritty it is. Because of how realistic the show is, I go into each episode wondering who they’ll kill off next, because this show is infamous for killing off its characters.
Slasher (2016)
IMDb – 6.7
Genre – Crime, Drama, Horror
Created by – Aaron Martin
About – Each series’ stories and characters are unique, while some of the cast members appear in both. Each of the three series follows a different slasher serial killer. The storylines are far more complicated and surprising than I had anticipated, which is fantastic. In each season, the writers do an amazing job with the plot and keeping you guessing as to who the ultimate culprit is. As the title suggests, it’s a series about a serial killer, similar to the horror films of the 1980s.
My man!! Why is game of thrones at the top of the list!?!? It didn’t even get violent until the third season!! Punisher and OZ still beat that series by a long shot. That should easily be your top two, starting with OZ and the punisher second! Have you actually watched OZ the whole way through?? I used to stay up late because my parents had hbo on cable to watch that show. It’s so nasty and still has great character development. Most of the OZ crew went on to be main roles in SVU and that show is still more violent and sexual than game of thrones. Not trying to kill your article, but it sucks. I hope this website didn’t outsource it!
Shut up Jon
